FAIRY STORIES

Blog #1
7/15/2012
Little girls know about Cinderella, about her breathtaking beauty, about Prince Charming, about a magical destiny called “happily ever after.” And inside every woman is a little girl who secretly aches for a fairy godmother to wave a wand and transform her into the beautiful princess she has always longed to be. To make her beautiful. Captivating, Adored
But we’ve learned that fairy tales aren’t real, and so we squelch our precious gifts of longing and desire. We stop dressing up or anticipating the ball, deciding it’s better to stay home than to hope again and be disappointed. Besides, being asked to dance isn’t all that important anyway. OH BUT IT IS!    (exert taken from Do You Think I’m Beautiful by Angela Thomas)
When we were little girls, we were read those fairy tales by our mothers and longed to be that princess. As we grew older, we started seeing the media’s take on beauty and eventually forgot our childhood dreams and fairy stories and started to adopt and believe what the magazines ads and television said about beauty. Their goal is to sell a product and therefore will do anything to convince the woman that they need it to achieve true beauty. But does it really work? They will eventually throw that product away and try to sell the newest latest thing, leaving the woman penniless and unsatisfied. The media knows that shopping is our weakness. Have you ever noticed how many television commercials are focused toward women only? Yet we ever strive but cannot attain that beauty we long for.  Maybe its because we're looking in the wrong place all along.
Proverbs 31:10 says…….Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. In the Webster’s Thesaurus, the word virtuous means, goodness, uprightness, righteousness, noble, just, honorable, honest, high-princepled, upstanding, respectable, uncorrupt, good, pure, decent, and the list goes on. Well obviously that’s a tall order also. It seems that either standard, worldly or Christian, is unattainable. But unlike the world, God has made a way thru his son to be virtuous. As we except Christ to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, we become that beautiful woman. Women after God’s own heart and THAT my sisters is worth far above rubies!
